Alex North's classic and heartbreakingly beautiful score for "The Long, Hot Summer" is presented in stereo and is in its most complete form to date. Also included is North's almost entirely unknown but equally brilliant score for the 1961 film "Sanctuary".

"The Long Hot Summer" - Paul Newman plays a Mississippi sharecropper given to hot tempered behavior in this loose adapation of the William Faulkner novel. Also stars Joanne Woodward. 1958

"Sanctuary" - In the Misssissippi of the 20s, the black maid of a white woman, tormented by her love affiars, kills the latter's newborn in order to give her employer a way out of a predicament, but then ends up facing the death penalty for her crime. Stars Bradford Dillman, Yves Montand and Lee Remick. 1961
