Guy Ritchie directs his wife Madonna in his version of the 1975 Lina Wertmüller film. Madonna plays Amber, the diva wife of a pharmaceutical millionaire (Bruce Greenwood), whose idea of a Mediterranean cruise on a converted fishing boat is not to her liking. She takes out her displeasure on Guiseppe (played by Adriano Giannini, son of Giancarlo Giannini from the original film) a strapping young ship hand, but when she gets stuck with him on a deserted island, the tables are turned - Giuseppe reverses their roles, stripping her of pride and vanity and controlling her completely, and Amber falls in love with him despite the abuse.
Madonna’s Survivor-like adventure in the blue lagoon is beautifully scored by composer Michel Colombier and features a show stopping performance of Madonna lip-synching to Della Reese’s "Come On A My House." Also stars Jennifer Aniston, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Elizabeth Banks. 2002
