Thom Fitzgerald directs the ensemble drama "The Event." Nick (Parker Posey) is a district attorney investigating several deaths in the gay community of New York's Chelsea District. Matt (Don McKellar) is suffering with the AIDS virus and wants his loved ones to help him to die. The moral and legal issues surrounding assisted suicide are explored through Nick's ongoing investigation and through interviews with Matt's friends and family. Also starring Brent Carver, Sarah Polley, and Olympia Dukakis. "The Event" premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
