POLICE PYTHON 357 - A tough but honest cop must clear his name after a corrupt colleague implicates him in a murder in this French thriller. Ferrot (Yves Montand) is a hard-as-nails police detective who is attracted to a beautiful woman named Sylvia (Stefania Sandrelli). Sylvia, however, is having an affair with Ganay (Francois Perier), who happens to be Ferrot's superior on the force; Ganay happens to be married to Therese (Simone Signoret), who is handicapped. Sylvia is found murdered, and Ferrot is assigned to investigate; Ferrot is convinced that Ganay killed Sylvia because she wanted to end their relationship, but to his dismay, Ferrot discovers that the killer has placed a number of false clues that point the blame toward Ferrot. "Police Python 357's" brisk cutting earned editor Marie-Josephe Yoyotte a Cesar Award (the French Oscar). 1976
L'IMPORTANT, C'EST D'AIMER - Freelance photographer Servais (Fabio Testi) meets luckless Nadine Chevalier (Romy Schneider) an aging, world-weary, would-be movie star who thus far has only been able to find work in cheap exploitation movies. Trying to win her affection, Servais borrows the money from his underworld employers to launch a theatrical production of Richard III starring Nadine as Lady Anne. Though cold and skeptical at first, Nadine gradually falls in love with Servais, and eventually finds herself torn between him and her husband Jacques (Jacques Dutronc), to whom she feels morally obligated. Set in a world of losers and futile talents, this dark and moody drama depicts love as the only source of salvation. Memorable performances and skillful direction make this film a powerful experience. 1975

He then holds them hostage on an Ionian isle. Trouble ensues when the sailor falls in love with the Gorgon. Unfortunately, she turns him into stone. Stars Orson Welles, Susan Hampshire, Mathieu Carrière and Jean-Pierre Cassel. 1972
LES AVEUX LES PLUS DOUX - This drama is based on a 1953 one-act play by Georges Amaudi. It details the confrontation between a determined young criminal and two brutal policemen who are bent on exacting a confession from him. The young criminal and his partner were caught after they attempted to rob a circus ticket booth. Even though they all know his partner killed the ticket clerk, the two policemen conducting the boy's interview have decided they want him to confess to the killing. During the interview, the policemen use every inducement they can think of to get the man to confess after which they then beat him almost to death. The town mayor, however, has overheard the whole affair, and is indignant. Stars Caroline Cellier, Roger Hanin and Philippe Noiret. 1972
