Richard Kaufman conducts the London Symphony Orchestra.
The world renowned London Symphony Orchestra, most recently heard on the soundtrack of Revenge of the Sith, here take to the skies for a collection of some of the most soaring and emotional film music ever composed.
The orchestra, under the direction of conductor Richard Kaufman, first takes flight with a symphonic suite from Dimitri Tiomkin’s Academy Award-winning score for The High and The Mighty (recently released on DVD for the first time). Another highlight is Elmer Bernstein’s unforgettable music for the comedy landmark Airplane! Also included are excerpts from such classic, airborne scores as The Spirit of St. Louis, Spitfire, The Great Waldo Pepper, 633 Squadron, E.T., Star Trek, The Boy Who Could Fly and more!
Over one hour of music was recorded in London’s famed Abbey Road Studios.
A demonstration quality recording with a sound as big as the skies and the spirit of flight that all of this music was written to evoke. Film music collections may be a dime a dozen but any such new recording that features the London Symphony Orchestra is nothing less than a thrilling music event!
