Reissue with newly revised 20 page booklet.

Film music scores composed by Georges Delerue. Arranged by Robert Lafond.

Two vintage Delerue scores are grouped on this rerecording produced with digital sampling of acoustic instruments: RAPTURE, a movie directed by John Guillermin starring the teenaged Patricia Gozzi, and INTERLUDE, directed by Kevin Billington with Oskar Werner and Barbara Ferris. It's a premiere on any disc format for the music from RAPTURE. As for INTERLUDE, unpublished excerpts have been added to the 17 minutes, initially released on LP. The approach taken by Robert Lafond remains close to the original arrangements, while offering an unsurpassable sound quality. The liner notes of the 20-page booklet sets the works in their context with archival stills and original illustrations.

RAPTURE - Raised in the country with only her world-weary, cynical father, a former judge, for company, a young woman grows up believing that she too is angry at the world. Other than her reclusive father, her only human contact comes from her personal maid and a scarecrow that the girl pretends is a man. Her life abruptly changes one day when a fugitive criminal shows up and begs the judge for shelter. Hating all things having to do with the law, the old man lets him in. The young woman is enchanted by the fugitive's presence and grows close to him until she discovers that he and the maid have become lovers. The enraged young woman vows to kill the maid, but the latter hastily leaves. With no hindrance, the girl and the fugitive fall in love and head for Paris where the girl learns valuable lessons about herself and tragedy ensues. 1965

INTERLUDE - Stefan Zelter (Oskar Werner) is a classical orchestra conductor who is sued for libel after statements made in a newspaper interview. He finds himself blacklisted and out of work and leaves his wife Antonia (Virginia Maskell) to be with the reporter Sally (Barbara Ferris). His wife nobly tells him he must never give up his music even though the two may never reconcile. This dramatic, romantic tearjerker has music by Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff performed by the British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Comedian John Cleese has a straight role as a television publicist and Donald Sutherland plays the role of a mutual friend whose marriage is on the rocks. 1968
